Volunteer with us
Bow Valley Mental Health and Addiction Week is powered by community members who care about creating a more supportive and connected Bow Valley. Our volunteers play a vital role in helping reduce stigma, spark meaningful conversations, and ensure everyone feels welcome and safe at events throughout the week.
There are several ways to get involved, depending on your interests and experience. Community Ambassadors are individuals with lived experience who feel comfortable sharing their mental health or addiction journey, helping inspire hope and understanding through storytelling and conversation.
Volunteers can also provide peer support at events, with opportunities to receive suicide prevention training and information about community services and resources prior to the week. We strongly encourage agency members who already specialize in this field to participate via this program. Finally, volunteers can help behind the scenes by assisting with event logistics, including setup and takedown, marketing distribution, volunteer coordination, and registration. No matter how you choose to participate, your involvement helps build a stronger, more compassionate Bow Valley community.

Peer Support
Peer Support volunteers play an important role in creating safe, supportive spaces during Bow Valley Mental Health and Addiction Week events. These volunteers are present at select events to offer compassionate, non-clinical support to anyone who may be feeling overwhelmed, distressed, or in need of someone to talk to. Sometimes this simply means having a conversation, listening without judgment, or checking in to make sure someone is okay. Peer Support volunteers help individuals connect with local mental health and wellness resources when appropriate.
The Peer Support application can be found HERE.
Event Support
Event Volunteers are the backbone of Bow Valley Mental Health and Addiction Week. From promoting events in the weeks leading up, to helping with set-up, registration, wayfinding, and take-down during the week itself, these behind-the-scenes supporters make it all possible. Their time, energy, and attention to detail help ensure that events run smoothly and that participants feel welcomed and supported.
While they may not always be front and center, their contributions are just as essential. If you are interested in being an event volunteer, please fill out the application below.
